I want to develop computer technology. What major should I choose?

Hi there, I've decided what I want to do with my life (yay), and I'm starting college soon. I want to work for a company like intel or ati and help develop processors, or other types of computer stuff. I'd prefer to work on making the smallest things possible, the stuff that will eventually lead to microscopic robots we'll inject into people's blood to cure diseases and such. But idk exactly how to get to that point. I'm guessing I should be some sort of engineer or programmer. Can anyone help me out? How would you suggest I accomplish this?
